Rabbi Ariel Hendelman
Rabbi Ariel is the Spiritual Leader of B'nai Or Boston, a Jewish Renewal community, and a graduate of the ALEPH Ordination Program. Ariel loves gathering in chant and meditation circles, and teaches Torah through a mystical, mythological and mindful lens both online and in person. Ariel is a member of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality's Marbeh program, a two year cohort for Jewish Mindfulness teachers.
Ariel's written words appear in Ayin Press, Double Blind Magazine, and most recently, on her Substack. She is currently adapting her Rabbinic Thesis manuscript into a book -- a new midrash about the twin sister of Cain's rite of passage return to Eden. While living in Jerusalem from 2014-2020, Ariel co-founded Shabbat Shelach, an LGBTQ+ community, hosting monthly Shabbat meals and the largest post-Pride-March Shabbat ever, with speakers such as Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie.
Ariel’s debut album, Prayers for Fire & Water is a soulful blend of folk and niggunim. Ariel believes in cultivating and sharing practices that open the heart, connect us to the Makom, the timeless and placeless place, which is the Source of Life. She believes that holiness is wholeness, and that it belongs to all of us.
In her free time, Ariel loves singing around the bonfire, pulling oracle cards, and eating cornbread.
